Viorel came to rehabilitation through medicine. He trained in the nursing program at the medical school in Chișinău, Moldova, then completed massage therapy programs at Kikkawa College and Spring College in Toronto. Clinical training first, hands-on therapy second — it is why he reads a body the way he does.
Most of his career has been spent on the recovery side of high-performance sport, and most of that in hockey. He has worked with professional and junior-level players through the part of the week nobody sees: the hours between games, when an athlete has to be ready to perform again in forty-eight hours whether or not his body agrees. That work is specific. It is deep, deliberate muscle work — finding tissue that has shortened or seized, releasing it, and restoring the range the next game demands.
You do not have to be an athlete to benefit from it. The same approach — patient, deep work on tissue that has been guarding for months — is what frees a desk worker’s locked shoulder or a runner’s calf.
Viorel is a hockey parent himself; his son is an aspiring player, so his weekends are spent at the rink like a lot of our families. He knows what a season asks of a young athlete, and what it costs to play through something that should have been treated.
