Physiotherapy at Battle Arts Academy
Advanced Physio Plus x Battle Arts Academy

Physiotherapy at Battle Arts Academy

Assessment by a registered physiotherapist and one-on-one rehab sessions, delivered in a treatment room inside the gym - so you can rehab where you train. Tuesdays at 4880 Tomken Rd, Mississauga.

Rehab that speaks the language of your sport

Advanced Physio Plus has licensed a treatment room at Battle Arts Academy so that people recovering from injury can be assessed, treated and progressed on site. Shoulders that will go back to hitting pads. Knees that have to change direction again. Backs that need to hold a stance for five rounds.

It is physiotherapy, start to finish. Every client is assessed by Nikolay Zagrebailov, a physiotherapist registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, who writes the treatment plan and supervises everything that follows. Coaches do not provide physiotherapy, and physiotherapy is only ever delivered to someone with a current treatment plan.

How it works

Four steps, in order

1

Book an assessment

Assessments run at Battle Arts on Tuesday afternoons and evenings, with Nikolay Zagrebailov, Registered Physiotherapist. If Tuesday does not work, you can be assessed any other day at our Skymark Avenue clinic and still do your sessions at the gym.

2

Get a treatment plan

A full assessment of the injury and how you move, then an individual plan - what we are treating, what you will work on, and how it progresses week to week.

3

Do the work, on site

One-hour sessions in the treatment room at Battle Arts, one-on-one or two people with one therapist assistant. Your physiotherapist assistant carries out the plan Nikolay wrote and reports back to him.

4

Re-assessment, then discharge

Nikolay re-assesses, adjusts the plan, and decides when you are done. Discharge is a clinical decision. After that you are free to keep training with your coach at Battle Arts - that is coaching, not physiotherapy, and it is not billed to insurance.

Sessions, fees and coverage

What a session costs

Every client starts with an assessment. Treatment sessions are one hour.

  • Initial assessment with Nikolay, PT - $40. A 20-minute assessment with our registered physiotherapist, who diagnoses the problem and writes your treatment plan.
  • Private session - $120. One hour, one client, one therapist assistant. Full attention on your plan.
  • Semi-private session - $80 per person. One hour, two clients, one therapist assistant. Each person works their own plan, which suits training partners recovering alongside each other.

Everything is booked, invoiced and claimed through Advanced Physio Plus, not through the gym. Your receipt names the physiotherapist assistant who delivered the session and the supervising physiotherapist, with his registration number, so it is ready for your insurer.

Coverage and paperwork

Most extended health plans include a physiotherapy allowance. We offer direct billing with many insurers, so where your plan allows it you pay only the balance. Where it does not, you pay at the session and submit the receipt yourself. We work with private insurance and employee benefit plans, motor vehicle accident (MVA) claims and WSIB.

Advanced Physio Plus handles booking, records, invoicing, insurance submission and payment. Battle Arts provides the space. Your health record belongs to the clinic and stays under the clinic's control, held under Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act. Gym staff have no access to it.
